The Wigwam Golf Resort & Spa

Wigwam Golf Resort and Spa was built in 1918 to serve as a private club for executives of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. After opening to the public in 1929, it quickly became known as an elegant, stylish desert getaway just a short drive from Phoenix. Many of the 463-acre resort's original facilities have been recently restored to their initial splendor. The campus-like setting features adobe-style guest casitas surrounded by gardens and expansive grassy areas. This classical Southwestern aesthetic is updated with contemporary furnishings and state-of-the-art amenities. The latest addition to the property is the 26,000-square-foot Red Door Spa, which features a distinctive decor and treatment menu inspired by the American Southwest. The resort offers world-class spa treatments and championship golf in the quaint village of Litchfield Park, not far from Scottsdale and Arizona's other most famous vacation locales. Though more affordable than many of the region's luxury hotel/resort spas, the property encompasses three 18-hole courses that should appeal to avid golfers. In 2005, a $5-million renovation provided new instructional and practice golf facilities. The rugged Arizona locale allows for outdoor activities such as hiking and mountain biking within the vicinity of the resort.
