Total Health Institute

Total Health Institute is a wholistic center that integrates complementary medicine and conventional Western clinical expertise. The Institute's directors, Dr. Keith and Laurie Nemec, believe that the body's capacity to heal itself is activated when the blockages in the flow of the river of life are removed and one is taught how not to block this river up again. Therapies concentrate on seven main areas: air/oxygen/breathing, water, food, sleep, exercise, fasting/detoxification, and prayer/meditation/stillness. A majority of Total Health Institute's patients have major health challenges or have been diagnosed with diseases. Approximately a quarter of its patients have symptoms that may include constipation, heartburn, fatigue, pain, allergies, insomnia, and weight problems. About five percent just want to maintain good health. The Institute is situated on a picturesque four-acre property complete with pond and stream. Two main buildings - a 7,500-square-foot spa and treatment center, and a 2,500-square-foot teaching center/organic store - house wellness services in a tranquil, home-like environment. Exposure to the tranquility of nature is meant to intensify the healing and rebalancing brought about by the Institute's programs. Lymphatic drainage therapy uses an ionization machine that stimulates stagnant, toxin-ridden lymph (called the body's sewer system) to prevent blockage and aid the detoxification process. Colon hydrotherapy is performed by a trained therapist using sanitized equipment and triple-filtered warm water; wheatgrass is incorporated to cleanse the liver. Detoxification baths combining pulsed frequency energy and cleansing hydrotherapy, in addition to immune-system-stimulating infrared and oxygen therapies and soothing massage therapy, promote rejuvenation that guests can feel immediately after treatment. Additionally, microdermabrasion, photo rejuvenation, and photo-dynamic skin tightening provide technologically advanced anti-aging modalities.
