Daily Oily Skin Care Regimens

 
Oily skin is not easy to deal with. You likely get aggravated when your face starts to shine just an hour after washing it. The good news is that oily skin can be managed so that you are able to maintain your makeup and reduce your risk of acne and clogged pores. The key is how you wash, moisturize and take care of your skin overall.
 
 
Oily skin is something that you can deal with at any age. Some people who had oily skin as a teenager will notice less oil as they make it to adulthood, but for some, the oiliness is there to stay. In order to deal with it, you must change your cleaning routine. Mainly women have this issue because of hormone fluctuations throughout the month, especially around their menstrual period. You may not have a lot of control over your hormones, but you do have some control over how these fluctuations affect your skin.

Cleansing Oily Skin

First, be ready to wash your skin once in the morning and once right before heading to bed. With oily skin, just one night of not washing away your makeup before bed can result in issues like a fresh, new pimple when you wake up. Next, you need the right cleanser. Since you are washing your skin twice a day, you want to choose a more mild cleanser. This will help prevent issues like dryness. Also, you want to choose a cleanser that does not contain any waxes, soaps or oils.
 
To properly wash your face get it wet with tepid water. Cold water can lockdown pores resulting in debris and oils getting trapped in them, and hot water can cause dryness and irritation. Once your face is wet, wash your hands. Washing your face with dirty hands can just cause more issues. Next, take about a quarter-sized amount of cleanser and massage it into your skin in a circular motion. Then, all you have to do is cup your hands and rinse away the cleanser and debris.
 
After patting your skin dry, use an astringent to catch any dirt, oil, makeup and other things that your cleanser missed. Simply put some on a cotton swab and run it over your face in a circular motion.

Moisturizing Oily Skin

The first thing you need to do is find a moisturizer that will not cause more issues for your oily skin. So, look for one that is free of oils, lipids and waxes. You want a humectant that works by using the moisture you already have in the deeper layers of your skin. This means that it will not be heavy and just cause further greasiness. Some find that a serum is light and works well in moisturizing their skin without making it oilier. New cells are able to come to the surface and give yourself a more radiant glow.

Choose a Sunscreen

The last thing you need with oily skin is sunburn and sun damage. Many new moisturizers contain an SPF 15 in them so this helps and you will be able to skip regular sunscreen. However, if your favorite moisturizer has no sunscreen in it, you absolutely need to find a separate one.
 
First, look for a sunscreen specially made for the face. This will help to ensure that it is not full of oils and other ingredients that can clog pores and cause acne. Then, apply it after your moisturizer has dried and before applying makeup. Make sure that the sunscreen has dried before applying makeup. If you are spending a day out in the sun for several hours, such as a day at the beach or a day sled riding, you should plan to reapply your sunscreen every two hours. It is important to apply this daily as the sun can cause damage even on days that are fully cloudy and dreary.
