Injectable Face Dermal Fillers

Injectable dermal fillers are also called injectable skin fillers. These products have expanded the abilities of cosmetic dermatology and provided new types of non-surgical wrinkle treatments and facial rejuvenation for the world of cosmetic dermatology. Injectable wrinkle and skin fillers are used as a way to increase the volume of tissue and help improve the overall contour of skin while reducing wrinkles.

Artecoll® and Artefill®

Artefill®, is also called Artecoll® in other countries. This treatment is a type of skin filler that is injected. The makers of this filler promise that the results and wrinkle treatment will be long lasting because this particular treatment has a special make-up. In October of 2006, the FDA approved Artefill® to treat troublesome smile lines and it is also used to augment the lips, treat wrinkles and acne scars.

BOTOX® Cosmetic Injections

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a type of injections that have been found to eliminate wrinkles in the forehead as well as fine lines in other places. The effects on the face are almost immediate and it is a very common treatment for wrinkles among those who are eager to eliminate some of the more moderate aging signs. Botox® injections help to allow the muscles in the face to relax and prevent contractions that can cause wrinkles and fine lines. This is most often a quick treatment and in many cases it can take as little as 10 minutes. Since the Botox® results can last anywhere from three to six months, it is necessary to get touchups to maintain results.

Collagen Treatments

Collagen treatments are a commonly used method for smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines on the face and plumping up the lips. Collagen is most often used when working to fight the common signs of aging by allowing wrinkles and fine lines on the face to be smoothed out. Natural collagen is a protein that is found in the skin, bone, cartilage and tendons. Over time, this protein tends to break down and the body doesn’t make as much of it, which causes the skin to age. Injections of collagen help to fill fine lines and wrinkles, as well as help to plump up other areas of the face.

Cosmoplast® and Cosmoderm®

Cosmoderm™ and Cosmoplast™ are procedures that use human collagen and are the very first of their kind to be approved by the FDA. With these treatments, there is no risk of allergic reactions that are often found with collagen that is derived from collagen. Cosmoderm™ is used for the treatment of fine wrinkles on the face and Cosmoplast™ are beneficial in treating the deep creases and wrinkles that can develop. Both of these wrinkle fillers are injections and they have small amounts of lidocaine which is an anesthetic, so patients feel very little pain from the injections.

DySport® Treatment

It has been found that the muscle contractions in the face are the cause of many wrinkles and lines on the face. For over 10 years, Botox® treatments have been the only option to treat wrinkles. With the emergence of Dysport® there are new options for doctors and patients.

Fascian® Injections

Fascian™ is a new wrinkle filler that is given through injection. It has been found to be long lasting and may actually help to encourage the body to make more of its own collagen. This injection is made out of fascia, which is a tissue that contains collagen and is naturally found in the human body. As is the case with other types of injectable fillers, the Fascian™ injections go underneath the skin into the wrinkle that is being treated. Since this material has a thicker consistency than ordinary collagen, a Fascian™ injection absorbs into the body more slowly, so results last longer.

Microlipoinjection, or Fat Transfer

Autologous fat transfer is also known as microlipoinjection. This treatment is thought to be one of the safest ways to treat method currently available. This is likely because it uses the fat that comes from the patient themselves. During this procedure, the doctor will pull a little bit of fat from the buttocks or thighs through the use of low-power liposuction. This fat is then injected into the areas that need to be treated. This procedure has been found to be very long lasting, but most of the fat is absorbed back into the body in several months after the procedure has been done, but up to a third of the fat that is injected can remain in place for years.

Hylaform® Injections

Hylaform® injections are a type of skin filler that consists of avian hyaluronic acid that has been highly purified. This acid mimics the same effects of the natural hyaluronic acid naturally found in the human body. It has the ability to draw and hold water and helps to lubricate and support the skin. With time, the hyaluronic acid found in the skin will be reduced, which leaves the skin feeling less elastic and loose. Injections of Hylaform® help to replenish the hyaluronic acid in the body to restore a younger, healthier look to the skin.

Juvedérm® Injections

Hyaluronic acid is a new and commonly preferred method to treat wrinkles. Some people notice that they have allergies to hyaluronic acid from avian or bovine tissue. Juvéderm® consists of hyaluronic acid that is not derived from animals, which makes it free of allergens that can cause negative reactions in certain people. This injection provides the same benefits that animal derived hyaluronic acid without risking allergic reactions. An added benefit of this injection is that is available in many different concentrations to properly treat all kinds of creases and wrinkles.

Perlane® Treatment

Perlane is also a type of hyaluronic acid filler that is injected into the affected area to help eliminate and reduce fine lines and wrinkles that give away the age. Perlane is also an effective and natural looking option for enhancing the lips to give the fuller, more youthful look many women desire.

Radiesse® - The New Name for Radiance®

Radiesse® is a type of injectable filler that is made up of microspheres that consist mostly of phosphate and calcium ions, which are all naturally found in the bodies of humans. After, this treatment is injected, the microspheres form a thin tissue that helps to fill up wrinkles and allowing for a support structure that is semi-permanent. Results are fairly long lasting, with touchups only necessary every two years or so.

Restylane® Injection

Much like Perlane®, Restylane® is made from hyaluronic acid. Unlike Perlane, this treatment is more often used to treat facial wrinkling and contouring and is not used to augment the lips very often. Restaylane® effects will usually last for approximately six months. This treatment is extremely safe and long lasting, which has made it one of the more commonly chosen non-surgical treatments of cosmetic procedures these days.

Sculptra® Procedure

Sculptra® is the name brand version of Poly-L-Lactic Acid, or PLLA. It is a filler for the skin that has been diluted using sterile water and is then injected below the skin. This treatment for wrinkles has been found to be very effective because it works differently than other fillers for the kin. After Sculptra® has been injected; it has been shown to stimulate the production of collagen within the body. The skin volume increases and the wrinkles are filled. This treatment is often used for patients who are suffering from a condition called lipoatrophy, which is when facial fat is lost. This effective treatment is often referred to as a “liquid face lift” because of these benefits.

Zyderm® or Zyplast®

There are two injectable fillers for the skin that have been time tested. They are called Zyderm® and Zyplast® and they have been commonly used since they came out in 1981 and 1985. In fact, over 1.5 million patients have enjoyed the benefits of Zyderm® and Zyplast® since they came on the market.
